Hong Kong pianist Karrie Kam-Yan Yip has just completed her Artist Diploma at Royal College of Music under the guidance of Sofya Gulyak and Ilya Kondratiev, with a full scholarship generously supported by Croucher Trust. Prior to that, she obtained First Class Honours for Bachelor degree and Master of Music degree at College studying with John Byrne.
Karrie enjoys her stage appearances in Europe and Asia. She has performed at Ehrbarsaal, Gläserne Saal at Musikverein in Vienna, Austrian Cultural Forum in London, UK, St George Hanover Square, St. James’s Church Piccadilly, St. Paul’s Church, St. Mary Abbots Church, St. Mary-le-Bow Church and Beaconsfield United Reformed Church. She had given performances at Act City Hamamatsu Japan, Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong City Hall and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. She was invited to perform at the Steinway Halls and the Youth and Children’s Palaces in Bao’an, Shenzhen and Foshan for consecutive years. Recent projects include the recording of unrecorded works by Mathieu Crickboom with violinist Anna Ovsyanikova.
Karrie is a laureate of numerous competitions, achievements include the first prize of International Vienna Piano Competition with Beethoven Prize awarded, 2nd International Artists Competition, the 7th GOCCA International Pianist Competition with the Youth Pianist Contract, the winner of the Hong Kong reginal selection and one of the finalists of the 20th Japan Hamamatsu PIARA Piano Competition, third prize winner of the Fifth Asian Youth Music Competition and the fifth prize of 13th Hong Kong Asia Pacific Piano Competition. She was also awarded the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund by the Hong Kong Government.
